Kay circulated the annual accounts, and reported that the club this year, was currently showing a small profit of £55 compared to the loss of about £440 the previous year. There were still some fees to come in and some expenditure where invoices had not yet been received.
Membership fees were 8% lower this year as we had fewer members (37 seniors) although visitors fees had increased. Hall hire charges were also lower (by 11%)as we had reduced the number of our League teams and some of the leagues were smaller.
We currently have 37 tubes of shuttles left- the cost per tube is now £14.75
The sundries mainly related to the Christmas dinner.
Thanks to Derek Poots for auditing the accounts and to Kay for all the work throughout the year.
Treasurer’s Report Proposed to be accepted by Graeme Seconded by Paul.
2. Chairman’s Report:
Thanks to all of the committee for their hard work this year. Particular thanks to Kay, Gill and Julie in their roles as treasurer, secretary and match secretary as they do a lot of extra work to keep the club running smoothly.
Thanks to Graeme, Leigh and Sobhey (mens, ladies and mixed captains) and the individual team captains for all their hard work this year. Particular thanks as always to Julie for arranging (and rearranging) matches through the season.
A couple of juniors have moved up to the senior club and there’s a thriving junior session at the moment so we hope to see more coming through soon. Thank you to Gill and to all the other senior club members who help with the junior sessions.
In the senior club we have a few returning players, new members and potential new members. Huge thanks to Gill for organising the beginner and improver sessions earlier this year and for everyone who helped out with them. They were really well received and some of the attendees have continued to come to along to club nights.
Just a reminder that there’s a £25 reduction in next year’s membership fee for anyone introducing a new member who subsequently pays a full year’s membership.
Thanks to all who have helped with the club rota this year. Please can everyone volunteer their services when possible so it’s not the same people taking responsibility for opening up and packing away every week.
For social events, the Christmas party at Bills in Horsham was well attended. We had the end of season bowling on Friday night, with (a record?) 38 people. This included a large juniors/young seniors turnout which is really great to see. Please put 14th July in your diaries for the annual summer picnic in Horsham Park. All welcome – families, pets – all very informal and all weather dependent… Bring some sporty equipment/outdoor games land a picnic!
The Chris Allen cup for our teenager contribution this year goes to someone who consistently attends club night and has played quite a few matches this year, including as a fill in at quite short notice. Congratulations Sarah Gardner.
Proposer Mike and seconder Sobhey for chair’s report.
3.Election of New Committee
Most of the current committee are prepared to stand again if there are no volunteers to replace them.
Helen Kermode is standing down as chair after 2 years but is happy to remain as a general committee member and Sobhey Nassar has volunteered to take her place.

AOB The quality of shuttles used at club nights was discussed as Mike felt the standard was not as good as the ones used at Southwater club night. After some discussion it was agreed that we should have marked boxes at club nights for shuttles to be placed in when no longer good enough for play. These would then be either discarded or put in the junior box at the end of play so only good, slightly used shuttles would be put in the club tubes for re-use.
